I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I graduated with a Masters in Counselling Psychology. I have always had a passion for working with people, and after working with several different populations for many years in the helping profession, I decided to enter the field of counselling.
I have worked with many clients dealing with a variety of issues that include anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, addiction, interpersonal conflict, anger, and grief and loss. Whether it's the daily struggles of life that have you overwhelmed, or a life event has flipped your life upside down, I am here to support and guide you through. I am truly invested in my clients' well-being.
I also work with couples to help them re-establish intimacy and communication after experiencing ruptures in the relationship or communication breakdowns.
I specialize in the area of trauma, anxiety, and depression. My experience counselling survivors of trauma and abuse for several years in an agency setting has given me insight into the impact that certain life events can have. This work has also allowed me to have a deeper understanding of the challenges that we may face when it comes to relationship and family issues.
Emotional trauma can be caused by events that most of us have experienced such as a bad breakup, being fired from a job, divorce, bullying, sudden loss of a loved one, or a car accident. We often minimize the impact that these life events can have because they are considered to be events that normally occur through life. Traumatic events can have lasting effects on our core beliefs about the world, the people surrounding us, as well as ourselves, and can leave us feeling helpless, angry, or insecure. There are ways to resolve past trauma and live a more fulfilling life.
Using a variety of therapeutic modalities such as Adlerian Psychology, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, and EMDR we can develop a treatment plan that best supports your needs.
I look forwards to meeting you!
