2. What issues can counselling help with?
Counselling can support you through a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, trauma, grief, self-esteem issues, life transitions, anger, addiction, and more. Counselling can also assist with personal growth, boundary setting, meaningful life changes, and self-awareness.
3. How Should I Use My Free Phone Consultation?
You can use this time to ask:
What experience do you have working with my concerns?
What approach do you use in therapy?
How do sessions typically work?
What can I expect from the counselling process?
This is also a chance to see how you feel talking with the counsellor — feeling safe and supported is key to a successful therapeutic relationship.
4. Do I need a referral to book a session?
No referral is necessary. You can book a consultation or full appointment directly using our online booking system.
5. Are your counselling services covered by insurance?
Most extended health benefit plans in BC cover sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). We recommend checking with your provider. We provide receipts with all of the necessary information for reimbursement.
6. What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Missed or late-cancelled appointments may be subject to a full session fee.
7. Are sessions in-person or virtual?
We offer both in-person counselling in Coquitlam, BC, and secure online video sessions for clients across British Columbia.
8. How do I choose the right counsellor for me?
You can explore our Meet the Team page to learn more about each counsellor’s background, areas of expertise, and approach. Not sure who to choose? A free phone consult can help with that too.

9. Is counselling confidential?
Yes. What you share in session is confidential and protected, with few exceptions required by law (e.g., risk of harm). We follow all ethical and legal standards for client privacy in BC.
10. Do I need to prepare for my first session?
Just come as you are. You don’t need to prepare anything formal. Your therapist will guide the process and help you feel comfortable as you begin. An informed consent and intake will be emailed to you in advance of the session so you can take your time completing those forms.
11. How long are sessions and how often do I need to attend?
Sessions are typically 50 to 60 minutes long depending on length of session you book. Frequency depends on your needs—some clients come weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. We’ll work together to find the right pace for you.
12. Are your counsellors registered?
Yes. All of our therapists are Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs). This ensures a high standard of training, ethics, and professional care.
13. What if I’ve never been to counselling before?
That’s completely okay—many of our clients are new to counselling. We’ll guide you step-by-step, create a safe space, and move at a pace you’re comfortable with.
