Shanna Hickey, Registered Clinical Counsellor:

Since 2019, Shanna has had the privilege of supporting children and families through her work at a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening relationships between young people, their caregivers, and their communities. Shanna’s work is grounded in the belief that every family has the potential to thrive when supported in a compassionate and empowering space.

Shanna offers therapeutic support using a strength-based, attachment-focused lens. Her training includes Systemic Family Therapy, intensive Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), and Filial Therapy (FT). She also brings a wide range of knowledge from ongoing professional development in child development, play therapy, and trauma-informed care.

In her work with parents, she will meet you where you are - with warmth, respect, and collaboration. She provides practical psychoeducation and tools so you can feel more confident supporting your child through play, using principles of CCPT and FT. Her approach is trauma informed, relational, and grounded in anti-oppressive, decolonized practices.

If you're looking for a therapist who works with both children and caregivers to build strong, more connected relationships, she would love to support you on that journey!
