Tara Azimi, RCC

Registered Clinical Counsellor

Tara (she/her/hers) is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). She holds a master’s in counselling psychology and is currently a PhD student. Tara also holds a license as a registered provisional psychologist in the province of Alberta where she practiced both in private and community counselling settings. She has 12 years of experience offering mental health services to adults and couples of diverse backgrounds in BC and Alberta. Tara is experienced in working with couples, adults, and older adolescents dealing with a variety of issues such as depression, stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, immigration/integration challenges, work life balance, grief, relationship deterioration, decision making, and academic or career distress. She also has experience working wth clients who have ADHD and neurodivergence.

In her practice Tara values meeting clients at their pace, wherever they are at in their journey. As a therapist she works from a client-centered, culturally sensitive and trauma informed lens. For therapeutic techniques she draws on various approaches such as CBT, Adlerian therapy, Solution focused therapy and Narrative therapy as she sees fit to cater to the unique needs of each of her clients. She believes that creating a warm, relaxed, non-judgemental, and confidential space during counselling sessions is vital. Through a collaborative and strength-based approach Tara’s intention is to help her clients move forward, find solutions, gain new perspectives, and find inner peace. She offers tools, coping strategies and sometimes suggests exercises outside of sessions to support her clients in their healing. Her aim is to equip her clients with long term strategies that they can use in various situations.

Tara is not only a compassionate and dedicated therapist, but she is also a lifelong learner who believes in personal growth. She continuously attends trainings, participates in conducting research projects and engages in learning opportunities. Outside of her work as a therapist, Tara enjoys reading, travelling, spending time with her family and being outdoors.
